On February 18, 2025, Colchis and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) inaugurated an industry-academia-research base and marked the donation of ColchisFM——integrated seismic forward modeling software, to the university. This collaboration is set to strengthen technical research, talent development, and the application of innovative geophysical technologies.

As part of the partnership, Colchis donated fifty sets of ColchisFM, a tool designed for geophysicists to create seismic models based on reservoir parameters and visualize seismic responses in real time. The software is ideal for analyzing complex reservoirs, conducting fast hypothesis tests, and integrating geological bodies for seismic reflection analysis.

Colchis Chairman Wang Geping highlighted the company’s commitment to digital transformation and technological innovation in oil and gas exploration. He expressed enthusiasm for deepening cooperation with universities, particularly in talent training and cutting-edge technology research.

Faculty from the university praised ColchisFM for its user-friendly interface and value in teaching, especially its ability to enhance students’ understanding of geophysics. The integration of rock physics with seismic modeling sets ColchisFM apart, filling a significant gap in forward modeling technology.

The partnership will focus on joint technology research, academic exchanges, and the development of geophysical software, with ColchisFM playing a key role in future geophysics education and research.
