ColchisFM offers robust and flexible seismic forward modeling capabilities. To meet users’ needs for custom algorithm extensions, ColchisFM introduces the Python-Tool module. Leveraging Python’s “glue code” characteristics, this module not only supports the installation of general Python packages but also integrates seamlessly with industry-standard SU algorithms. This enables complex data processing while ensuring maximum flexibility in data handling.
Below is a simple example demonstrating the use of the Python-Tool module to apply SU’s band-pass filtering algorithm.
The results from the Python tool are shown below:

The Python-Tool module in ColchisFM provides users with an intuitive environment for coding seismic processing tasks. The integration of seismic data reading, SU algorithm plugins, and Python ensures seamless operation. The module adheres to standard Python syntax, making it both accessible and powerful.
What is Seismic Unix (SU)?
Seismic Unix, or SU, is a seismic processing environment developed by the Colorado School of Mines. SU offers efficient tools for data acquisition, preprocessing, interpretation, and analysis. However, it currently runs exclusively on Linux or Unix systems, requiring familiarity with system commands and SU-related Shell scripting. As the native program cannot run on Windows systems, SU presents a steep learning curve for many users.
ColchisFM’s Python-Tool bridges these gaps, making SU’s advanced capabilities more accessible and easier to use.
